Scorched Sands is a campaign based around Exploration, Survival, and Mystery. Inspired by old-school hexcrawls and Westmarch-style games. Your base of operations will be within the city of Myth's Call where you will set out on expeditions into the titular Madran Wastes. Explore a beautiful hand-drawn map as you discover what the Wastes have to offer. Discover the secrets and intrigue of a land cut off from the world for millennia.

The Madran Wastes have been long isolated due to the effects of The Desolation and Divine Ascension of The Lord of Blood & Iron. Jagged slag glass beaches, boiling seas, and an eternal sandstorm within the only mountain pass has barred entry to all but a few brave explorers. The Realm of Fire & The Hollow Abyss bleed over into the wastes, and its few surviving inhabitants are said to be strange and changed.

You find yourself in the last free port of the world, Myth's Call, located in the desert right outside the mountain pass to the Wastes. The Explorer’s Guild has recently hired a new Artificer, a prodigy of his craft. This brilliant mind has created new deployable flare towers powered by materials found in the Wastes. It is said these towers can create a semi-stable path through the ever-changing Pass of Shifting Sands, allowing you to carve out a permanent passage into the Wastes.

Who are you?

You are five 3rd-level adventurers. Perhaps you are connected to each other in some way, though most likely not. You have found your way to the last Free-standing port of Myth’s Call. A city not governed by any recognized state or nation located at the edge of the Wastes. This city welcomes people from all walks of life, and those who wish to get anew start flock here. Have you been hired by a local noble who wishes to make money on the new expeditions deep into the Wastes? Are you a descendant of the natives who have begun living in Myth's Call with the hope of finding the secrets of your ancestors? Are you running from something, or do you wish to find fame? Did you discover a secret that has led you here that’s answer is only found deep in the desert? Whatever brings you doesn't matter, the Wastes treat everyone equally....

The reason you find yourself here matters little. If you wish to survive you must work. Due to the influx of adventurers and mercenaries, the Explorers Guild’s acceptance criteria has increased. You’ve heard they won’t accept new members unless you have the backing of a well-known Patron.
