Helvellyn are an Abberant race born when ash spores from the Storms of Shadow take root in a host. Taking over the body of whatever they infected.  These spores mutate the hosts, changing them and creating this new life. When a Helvellyn is created they are immediately conscious and matured. As such, many Helvellyn hold a deep guilt for the circumstances of their creation, and many of the other races of Varian look on them with suspicion or fear. Helvellyn have a deep connection with the Plane of Nightmares, and therefore are innately magical.

Helvellyn come in three varieties. Interim Helvellyn are the most common type of Helvellyn andform when spores infect a humanoid. Beluora Helvellyn form when the ash spores take root in a monster or beast instead of a humanoid. Beluora Helvellyn gain many abilities and power from this beastly ancestry. Finally, Pelcillium Helvellyn form when the Ash spores take root in plants instead of a beast or Humanoid. They are by far the most accepted version of the Helvellyn and hold no guilt towards their creation.
